What Is 'True Culture'? Inside Ranverbae's Streetwear Philosophy

Why RVB built a brand around a Vietnamese word that doesn't fully translate
Updated 2026

Every streetwear brand has a tagline. Few build their entire identity around a single, hard-to-translate word. Ranverbae (RVB) did.

Where the Name Comes From

Ranverbae shortens to RVB. It is not a founder's name or a place, it is a made word standing in for what the brand calls True Culture, or in Vietnamese, Văn Hóa Thật. The brand describes it as carrying more than the English word "culture" usually does: faith, inspiration, belief, a whole way of living, not just an aesthetic.

The Idea Behind the Idea

RVB's own framing is direct: culture only becomes real the moment you do what your soul actually wants. Move like yourself, dress like yourself, live like yourself, and that is the whole philosophy, not something a brand can hand you or take away.

How That Shows Up in the Clothes

It is why RVB does not chase seasonal trend cycles the way a lot of fast streetwear does. The oversized, unisex fit is not a gimmick, it is the brand's answer to wearing what is actually you instead of a fitted, gendered cut built for someone else's body. Special collection drops like "Angry But Cute · Lonely But Rich" and "Daily Needed" build out that philosophy piece by piece rather than resetting it every season.

Founded in Saigon, 2020

RVB launched in Saigon in 2020 and now runs storefronts in both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. A few years in, the brand has held onto the same core idea it started with, which is rarer in fast-moving streetwear than it sounds.
